Local browser-based 3D conversion

3D file formats supported by Convert3Dfiles

Different 3D formats are made for different workflows. Some are best for web previews, some for AR, some for 3D printing and some for packaging visualization.

Best used for

  • Choosing the right export format
  • Understanding texture support
  • Avoiding missing materials in 3D conversions

Important notes

  • Use GLB when you want a compact, self-contained file with textures.
  • Use USDZ for Apple AR and iOS-friendly previews.
  • Use STL for 3D printing geometry, but not for textures.
  • Use OBJ ZIP when your model depends on MTL and external texture files.
  • Use ZAE when working with packaged Collada-style files, often used in packaging workflows.

How to use Convert3Dfiles

For textured OBJ or GLTF workflows, upload the model and all linked assets together in a ZIP file. This gives the converter the best chance to preserve textures and materials.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Convert3Dfiles is designed to run the conversion locally in your browser.

Can textures be preserved?

Texture preservation depends on the input format. GLB, GLTF ZIP, USDZ and OBJ ZIP are usually better choices for textured workflows than STL or PLY.

Does preview cost credits?

Preview is free. Exporting a converted file uses one credit.
