Local browser-based 3D conversion

Convert STL to GLB in your browser

STL is widely used for 3D printing, but it does not store materials or textures. Converting STL to GLB can make a model easier to preview, share or use in a web-based 3D workflow.

Best used for

  • 3D print model previews
  • Simple web-based 3D viewing
  • Sharing geometry in a more modern 3D format

Important notes

  • STL does not contain textures, UVs or rich material information.
  • The exported GLB can contain the geometry, but it will not magically restore textures that were not in the STL file.
  • Use GLB, GLTF, USDZ or OBJ ZIP when texture preservation is important.

How to use Convert3Dfiles

For textured OBJ or GLTF workflows, upload the model and all linked assets together in a ZIP file. This gives the converter the best chance to preserve textures and materials.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Convert3Dfiles is designed to run the conversion locally in your browser.

Can textures be preserved?

Texture preservation depends on the input format. GLB, GLTF ZIP, USDZ and OBJ ZIP are usually better choices for textured workflows than STL or PLY.

Does preview cost credits?

Preview is free. Exporting a converted file uses one credit.
